NYC Wine and Food festival

This event hosted by the Food Network is the perfect place for foodies and wine connoisseurs. Hundreds of food and liquor vendors come together at Pier 97 for the annual event. This year it starts Thursday October 10th, 2019- Sunday October 13th, 2019. There are tons of events taking place over the course of 4 days. Culinary demonstrations, special guest, and more. I've attended the festival at least three times and definitely recommend it. There are tickets for events that are under $100, and packages start at $160.

Pumpkin any and everything!

It’s backkkkkkk! Yes, Fall is a pumpkin lovers heaven. Pumpkin spice lattes, candles, marshmallows, gelato, and more. You name it, there is probably a pumpkin version of it. Some note worthy pumpkin spice items to try are Baileys Pumpkin Spice, Pumpkin Spice Milano Cookies, Kit Kat Pumpkin Pie, Kellogg's Pumpkin Spice Frosted Flakes, Pumpkin Spice Cheerios, Pumpkin Spice Kind Bar!

October = The Ice-Skating Rinks Open

Yup, you read it right! Major ice-skating rinks around the city start to open in October. Rockefeller Center opens October 12th, 2019, Bryant Park October 15th, 2019, and Wollman Rink at Central Park opens in October as well.

 Open House New York

Open House New York "New York's favorite celebration of architecture and urban design is back on October 18–20, 2019! From historical to contemporary, residential to industrial, hundreds of sites across the five boroughs are open to visit, with tours, talks, performances, and other special events taking place over the course of OHNY Weekend.” Check out the list of sites you can visit https://ohny.org/weekend/plan-your-weekend/grid.

See a Broadway Show

Fall is a great time to catch a Broadway show. The temperature has cooled down and it’s the perfect time to wander down Midtown Manhattan's Theatre District. The Midtown Theatre District is home to dozens of historic venues, long running hits, and bold new musicals. Plus, Broadway shows are a unique, fun, culturally enriching form of entertainment and the perfect alternative to watching a movie.

Village Halloween Parade

The 49th annual Halloween parade takes place on Halloween day at 7pm in Greenwich Village NYC. You MUST be in costume in order to march in the parade. This year’s theme is Wild Things. They have a section in the parade that you can join for $25. It grants you access to a secret entry point for early admission and no lines, a special DJ and soundtrack for an In-Parade party, TV coverage and the chance to meet other costume fiends like yourself! If you don’t want to dress up but still want to experience the excitement, you can watch the parade on 6th Avenue North of Spring Street to 16th Street from 7:00pm-10:30pm, and from your TV: NY 1at 8 pm-10 pm. I attended the parade a few times and remember it being an awesome time.

Stroll through Central Park

This landmark is beautiful any time of the year, but it is exceptional in the fall. The leaves are beautiful fall colors and the air will be nice and breezy. The plus side is you don’t have to travel upstate to experience the different hues of the fall foliage, it’s right in the city.

Fright Fest

Just imagine Six Flags with the added element of Halloween. Well you don’t have to imagine; you can experience it. Spooky time with zombies and goblins at Fright Fest is back for select days September 21-November 3 at Six Flags America. All Six Flags staff will be in costume during Fright Fest. Admission covers the rides (excluding water rides), and multiple opportunities to get scared straight including several free haunted houses and scare zones located throughout the park.

Spa Week

It's time for some pampering! Spa Week is the ultimate spa bargain! During this week, you can find $50 spa treatments offered at participating spas in NYC and around the USA. The Spa Week website states that you can enjoy spa week every April and October. They haven’t put any dates up for October so I’m not sure that it will be happening in October 2019, but it doesn’t hurt to keep an eye out even if it’s for future dates. Check them out at https://www.spaweek.com/spaweek-event.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

This isn’t in October, but I felt like it’s a notable Fall activity none the less. Nothing says Thanksgiving like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! The parade is one of the largest parades in the US. You can attend the parade on Thursday November 28th, 2019 from 9am-12pm. The parade kicks off at West 77th Street & Central Park West at 9AM ET. and the Parade makes its final turn & stops in front of Macy’s Herald Square! If you can’t attend, it’s televised so you can still get in on the action.
