Things to Do in Toronto, Canada

Memories

Caribana

Caribana is the biggest one day carnival in North America. The carnival brings together people of all cultures to celebrate the Caribbean culture through food, music, costume, and dance. This was my first time "playing mas" (dressing up in a costume) and it was one of the most incredible experiences I had this summer! Coming from Jamaican and Cuban descent, it allowed me to fully indulge in my culture.

Sunshower Fete

I was extremely skeptical when I first learned about this party. It's a water fete (party) with water guns, water hoses, pools, and even huge water trucks, and you dance and party with water. First thought was "I don't wanna get my hair wet" but I decided to tie it up, put a shower cap on, and go. Best decision ever! My only advice is to make sure you start to dry off by the time the sun goes down. It goes from fun to nippy real quick.

CN Tower

The CN Tower is classified as one of the seven wonders and is the tallest tower in the Western Hemisphere. The tower is an iconic symbol of Toronto and a sight to see. You can take a tour, and for an additional fee, walk on the roof with "EdgeWalk the CN Tower." Be sure to book your ticket and make reservations in advance or you will have an hour and a half to two hour wait if you do a walk in.

Niagara Falls/ Clifton Hills

You can’t go to Toronto and not make it to Niagra Falls. A marvel of beauty and delicacy, Niagara Falls has an American and a Canadian side and you can easily view both at the same time. Once you’re done there, you can walk in the opposite direction to Clifton Hills. Clifton Hills is a touristy area with many places to eat and activities to enjoy. It is also a great destination to buy souvenirs.

Coronation Park (Inukshuk Statue)

Coronation Park presents an awesome view of the harbor and is the perfect spot to have a picnic.  This park is home to the largest Inukshuk statue in North America. Inukshuk statues are important symbols of Canada's Aboriginal people. A fun fact is that the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics logo was based off of the structure.

Nathan Phillips Square

You know the huge Toronto sign that everyone takes pictures of/in front of? Here is where you can find it!
