A Weekend in ATL

So, you’re spending the weekend in ATL and not quite sure where to start. Here are 6 things to start/add to your itinerary.

Juicy Crab

The Juicy Crab is a Cajun Seafood Boil seafood restaurant. I recently decided to try seafood, and this was the first time I ate crab since I was a child. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to say they have a repeat customer! The crab and shrimp were well seasoned and just simply to die for. They might have really converted me into a seafood lover 🤫.

I had the seafood combo with snow crab legs, shrimp, corn, and potatoes.

Trap Music Museum

The Trap Music museum is one of Atlanta’s newest and most popular tourist attractions. The museum is such a dope concept with an awesome display of trap culture, music, and history. It also pays homage to the pioneers of trap music. Millennials would 100% enjoy this experience with so many photo opps to indulge in.

The Trap Music Museum does a great job with putting a visual representation of the trap music genre. The museum isn't huge but there is enough in there to hold your interest and keep you entertained. They also have a bar for 21+ if you want to get your sip on. I went at night and didn’t have a wait time although I heard it could get pretty crowded during the day. They also have an escape room for an additional charge.

*Admission is $10, and you have to pay for parking.

Cook Out

Cook out is a fast food restaurant with an extensive and impressive menu. My favorite thing on their menu is the milkshake. You absolutely have to try one! They have about 20 different milkshake options. I indulged in the Oreo milkshake and it was worth every single sip.

I ate the spicy chicken sandwich, French fries, and bacon wrap. They were pretty good.

If you’re truly indecisive about what to get, you can’t go wrong with the burger.

Stone Mountain

You can use Stone Mountain as your opportunity to get your workout on while you’re away. I was able to get to the top of the mountain in a 30 minute hike going at a decent steady pace. There is no better feeling than reaching the top! It's rewarding and gratifying to know that you accomplished what you set out to.

There is a rest stop at the halfway point where you can take a minute to catch your breath. Once you make it to the top there’s another rest area (this one is indoors with AC) where there is a concession stand with snacks, drinks, and a restroom.

They do have a summit sky ride which is a skyride gondola.

Views from the top!

Coming down was a lot more intense for me verses going up. The climb is pretty steep which makes it that much more intimidating going down. You will need good sneakers, a bottle of water, sunglasses or a cap on this hike. Also, the rocks get very slippery when wet so if you’re going on a day where it rained you have to be extremely cautious.

Saw this beauty on the way down!

*Parking is $20 for the day no additional fee.

 Waffle House

Waffle House is just one of those things that you must try when you’re in ATL. If I had to describe it in any way, it would be that it’s a southern Ihop. They’re well known for their different styles of hash browns. There are many different combos of waffles, grits, hash browns, bacon, eggs, sausages and more. Waffle House also serves lunch and dinner, and yes breakfast is served all day! I had the All Star Special.

Wraith Lounge

Wraith Lounge is ATL’s latest premier lounge. There is an indoor and outdoor portion to the lounge. They have a variety of specials happening throughout the week from $5 crab legs and $15 hookah on Mondays to $5 drink specials on Sundays. I heard that they could get pretty turnt up, but the vibe was actually pretty chill when I went on a Sunday evening. There was a live band that played some throwbacks which I have to admit I enjoyed. The food (wings and fries) were pretty good and the drinks were too.

Like Glue Festival

This only applies if you intend to go to ATL in the summer. Like Glue Festival is Caribbean festival. They have various performances by Caribbean and Afro beats artist. This year’s headliner was Konshens. They have food trucks and vendors.

For some reason, I expected it to be bigger but it’s definitely a fun cultural way to spend your afternoon.
