Just Cruisin' on A Cruise. Why Cruising Might Be The Best Vacation Alternative

I started cruising at young age of 7. It's my yearly family vacation and my mother's favorite way to travel. At this point, I've been on 27 or 28 cruises. As of lately I cruise twice a year—one in the summer and one in the winter as a birthday gift from my mom. I've traveled on various cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean Cruise line, Carnival Cruise line, and Norwegian Cruise line. The best way to view a cruises is as a floating hotels.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line is a mature and elegant cruise line. It currently has the largest cruise ship out of all the cruise lines.

Carnival Cruise Line is considered the "fun ship." It is perfect for family vacations. Children have an awesome time on this cruise line but it's great for people of all ages.

Norwegian Cruise Line is considered a "freestyle cruise" which means you do everything at your own pace. For example, most cruise lines have a set dinner time but on Norwegian you can dine at whatever time you please as long as the dining room is open.

So why might a cruise be the best vacation alternative for you?

1)      Cruises are all inclusive. The only things excluded are excursions, alcohol, and certain activities. Think of a cruise as an all inclusive resort but on water.

2)      You travel to several different countries/islands in one vacation. I think this is one of the most appealing aspects of cruising. Who doesn't want to visit four different countries/islands in one trip? The amount of countries/islands you visit depends on how long your cruise is as well as where it leaves from.

3)     I find that I am the most adventurous with food on cruises. It's easy to try new foods when you don't have to pay for them 😂. However, there are specialty restaurants that you can go to for a fee.

Some things to consider when cruising are:

1)      You're only at an island for up to 7-8 hours before boarding the ship to head to the next destination. This can be seen as a perk for some and a drag for others.

2)       Roaming fees are no joke! Because you're in the middle of the ocean, the charges are extremely expensive to use your phone. Fortunately, there are Wi-Fi packages for purchase while on the ship.

3)      I know some people fear being on water but honestly when the ship is moving you can hardly tell. The only way you really know is by looking out the window.

My favorite aspects of cruising are island hopping, food tasting, and the cruise being a one stop shop. I'm a beach connoisseur so hopping from island to island sampling each of their beaches is one of my favorite things to do. Like I mentioned earlier, I love that I get to try different foods that I might not consider trying normally outside of cruising. Lastly, the cruise is a one stop shop. There are various lounges, activities, Broadway/Vegas style shows, pools, night clubs, and so much more when it comes to cruising.  Definitely take cruising into consideration when planning your next trip!
