La La Land '21!
/Miles
Check out my previous LA post, La La Land!, for the dets about the city and additional to dos This post is catered to 2021 in all the pandemic madness!
Meals
Toca Madera
Toca Madera gives me Tulum vibes right in LA. The cocktails were absolutely delicious! There was live entertainment and bumpin’ music. My biggest qualm with this place was an hour wait even though we had reservations.
The Malibu Cafe
Malibu Cafe is a super cute outdoor venue with a range of activities such as hack & sack, giant chess, and even ping pong. There is a picnic area, and they also have canoes. They have a restaurant and bar. There i a misting station at the bar allows you to cool down. This place has great summertime vibes and atmosphere. It’s an ideal location for a family day, a date, or just anything really. They also had live music the day that I went.
L'Antica Pizzeria
The customer service here was superb. It completely added to the experience at L'Antica Pizzeria. The food was good also.
Ysabel
Ysabel is such a chic and sexy place to dine. There is indoor and outdoor dining with decor that gives all the vibes. In addition to the aesthetic, the food is great. I definitely recommend.
Blue Jam Cafe
I would say I had one of my favorite meals at Blue Jam Cafe. They have a loaded omelet that's Oh my gosh 🤤, must try! Then, they also have this incredibly delicious French toast. Sadly, they substitute the maple syrup with a vanilla syrup. It doesn’t have the same vibe that maple syrup gives but it's still good.
Idle hour
What attracted me to this bar was its distinctive interior. It reminded me of what I'd imagine the inside of a barrel that could fit many humans would look like. I had the unexpected pleasure of going on movie night where they provide free popcorn with your cocktail. The cocktail that you must try is the spicy Margarita cocktail.
Mama Shelter
I loved everything about this spot and the energy that they produce it.
The Highlight Room
The Highlight Room is a rooftop with 360 views of LA. It also has a pool and restaurant.
Amazebowls
Amazebowls Hit the nail on the head when it comes to acai bowls. The bowl was flavorful with plenty of topic options to choose from. It is also very filling. This is the right way to start your day!
Geoffrey
For some reason, Geoffrey really made me feel like I was in the Caribbean. The view of the ocean is amazing, and the food was pretty good.
Acai jungle
The acai bowl here was OK, nothing to write home about. I feel like if you're just looking for a quick healthy acai bowl that's not necessarily rich in flavor, this is the route to go. But if you're looking for something a bit more flavorful, this will not touch that palette. However, it is good nonetheless.
Memories
Getty Villa
The Getty Villa was absolutely stunning! I mean something straight out of a fairytale. Admission is free which is fortunate because, though it is beautiful, there isn't much to it. There's a lot of great artifacts about Getty, his life, and Greece but it isn't necessarily a museum. History buffs would enjoy. Though I loved the scenery, I would have been disappointed if I had to pay to enter.
Will Rogers Beach
I enjoyed this beach. It was clean and not too crowded. I recommend it over Santa Monica beach hands down.
Beetle Juice
This bar was totally unique with its Beetle Juice theme. If Halloween is your favorite holiday, you'd love it here. The vibe is very much so rock and roll. They have live performances (my favorite being the fire blower). I didn't particularly care for the BlackBerry Margarita cocktail, but the other cocktails looked worthy—especially the fish bowl.
The Last Book Store
This bookstore is a total hidden gem. It is one of the most uniquely designed bookstores I have ever been to. It steps away from the traditional look of a bookstore and offer something new, including art and mystery. I wish we had something like this in New York City. I would visit often.
Melrose Murals
As most of you already know, street art is totally my jam, so anytime there's an opportunity to experience it, you know, I'm there. That opportunity in LA is on Melrose also known as Melrose Murals. You can experience the murals as you walk the strip in between shopping at some of your favorite stores, . Below are a few.
House of Intentions
House of Intentions is a metaphysical shop dedicated to helping people achieve healing, transformation, empowerment, and personal growth. I bought a beautiful malachite from them.
The Grove (shopping)
The Grove is a dining and lifestyle destination with the best mix of retail, restaurants and entertainment in Los Angeles.
Hollywood Wax Museum + Guinness World Record Day Pass
Hollywood Wax Museum
I simply bought this package because I had to kill time before my flight and I wanted something cheap to do. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun I had doing these activities. You can purchase the tickets individually but the 2 for 1 ticket grants you access to both the Hollywood Wax Museum and Guinness World Record for just $5 more. The Hollywood Wax Museum takes you through a mirage of different celebrities that you can take pictures with.
Guinness World Record
Millennials, you probably remember how popular this show was growing up. The museum brings back some nostalgia as you go through it. It's also interactive which adds to the experience and fun of it all. I honestly did not think that I would have as much fun as I did. 10/10 recommend.
The Dunes
Considering that it's the last season to one of my favorite shows, I absolutely had to make my way to The Dunes. IYKYK 😂.
